NSW Branch of the Partners of Veterans Association of Australia was the founding state of the P.V.A., established on 31 August 1999 and incorporated in 2000. Membership grew rapidly as word spread across the nation leading to the formation of other state branches and in 2003, the incorporation of the P.V.A. Australia Inc. as a National Association encompassing all states and territories.
A community where all partners of past and present members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), their allies, and their families are recognised and their wellbeing is vital in achieving healthy members of society.
To serve all partners and families of past and present members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and its allies by providing every support and assistance practicable for the welfare, health and special needs of this community.
What We Do
P.V.A. NSW Inc. is committed to working with our members and to seek out those younger partners in need of our support and to improve conditions of all partners and families of defence and ex-defence personnel.
We are committed to offering support through our network of Sub Branches, support groups and local area contacts.
P.V.A. NSW has trained welfare officers who are there to provide information and help to members and the veteran and defence community. The P.V.A. News magazine, our website and social media, such as Facebook keep our members informed whilst endeavouring to provide more practical assistance, and promoting the issues faced by partners and families of veterans.
The State Management Committee meets three times a year in various locations with local area groups inviting the Committee to update them on issues of importance to partners and giving members the opportunity to out-forward their issues as well.
P.V.A. NSW sub branches and support groups meet regularly; weekly, once or twice a month and for special occasions. Support groups offer partners of veterans information and support, as well as a range of activities to enjoy together. Events are organised by the local members, reflecting the individual group preferences and vary from area to area.
• A lunch, morning or afternoon tea and chat;
• A talk from a guest speaker;
• Discussions on partners’ welfare and health issues and entitlements throughout the veteran community.
• A special event such as a dinner out or a trip to a local attraction.
